Scholarship Description:The job involves participation in a research project of the European AAL Programme. The available position involves being the technical manager of the project and developing part of the system. The selected person will be in charge of a team composed at least by two part-time engineers.
The project deals with the area of Augmented Reality. The project will develop an application for mobile devices that must recognize unmarked environments and add information to it. The project may involve the development of new SW libraries for recognition of unmarked environments or adapt existing ones.
Tasks to be performed:
· Partial project management.
· Research/development of SW libraries.
· Research/development of systems for recognition of unmarked environments.
· Integration with graphics engines in order to display information.
Desirable skills:
· Experience in project management.
· Knowledge in Augmented Reality.
· Knowledge in Computer Vision
· Knowledge in mobile devices programming.
· Knowledge in graphics engines.

The duration of this particular project is 30 months, but it could be extended depending on further projects in this area.

2011 Doctoral Grant Programme in Information and Knowledge, Spain

Scholarship Description:The IN3 offers grants for following the Information and Knowledge Society Doctoral Programme in each new edition. The IN3-UOC Doctoral Theses Grants Programme require full-time dedicationfrom the student and being physically present in the research institute’s facilities.

The maximum duration of the grants is four years. Grants require annual renewal. Renewal is contingent on the students benefitting from such grants achieving the training and research objectives established in each case. One of these objectives is to complete the organised research period within a maximum of three years. Another is to carry out research papers derived from the doctoral thesis.The rules for renewal and the resolutions on the allocation of IN3-UOC grants.

Master Scholarships, Rovira i Virgili University, Spain

The Rovira i Virgili University is announcing a competitive call for grants to study on a universitymaster’s degree programme during the academic year 2011–2012. These grants are aimed at new international students.
The grants consist of the whole amount of the registration of the first academic year (60 ECTS credits, including registered and recognized, fees and insurance) and a study bursary of 4.000€.
In the case of on-line masters degrees, the grant only will consist of the whole amount of the registration fees of the first academic year.
In the case of masters’ degrees of 120 ECTS credits, if 60 ECTS credits of the first year are recognized due to previous formation, the grant will involve the whole amount of the second year registration (60 ECTS credits). The student should pay the fees of recognition of the first year.
The Postgraduate and Doctoral School will be responsible for transferring the study bursary to the beneficiary student, by means of the Economic Resources Service. In addition, it will be responsible for paying the registration and tuition fees to the Academic Management Service, and for paying the insurance premium to the insurance company.
Requirements
a) General
Students must not be the beneficiaries of other incompatible grants or bursaries (see section 1.9 of the present call). Should they be awarded another grant or bursary of the same characteristics, they will have to explicitly renounce one of them and return the amount they have already received.
b) Specific
1. Beneficiaries must be registered for at least 60 ECTS credits of a URV university master’s degree. This figure includes the number of recognized credits.
2. Beneficiaries must have been favourably evaluated by the specially appointed Committee and their coefficient must be within the total number of grants to be awarded.
3. International students must not have Spanish residence.
4. Those beneficiaries who are registered in master’s degrees with a virtual component must spend at least two months in the URV.
Documents that must be presented with the application:
a. Signed application form addressed to the rector of the university
b. Declaration that the beneficiary does not reside in Spain
c. Academic transcript with the average grade of the previous academic year.
d. The Postgraduate and Doctoral School can ask students for any other documents that may be required to appraise their application during the selection process.
Presentation of applications
The deadline for presenting applications is 30th April 2011 inclusive.

Scholarship Description:The present call aims to facilitate and increase the participation of new
international students who fulfil the entry requirements of the URV university master’s degrees. In the present call 2011-2012, all the university master’s degrees will have at least one student awarded with a grant. Those interuniversity master’s degrees whose registration procedure is not organized by the URV are expressly excluded.

The number of grants awarded can be increased by means of any extra resources proposed by the organs responsible for organizing the master’s degree, as long as they use the specific application form. After the deadline for presenting the applications, students will have a period of five days to amend any possible lack of documentation and, after this period, the final list of admitted and excluded applications will be published on the website.The applications will be appraised by a Selection Committee consisting of three members from the knowledge area of themaster’s degree. The committee will be chaired by the coordinator of each master’s degree. This committee will raise the proposal of grant awards to the Vice-rector for Postgraduate Studies and Lifelong Learning and indicate the order of priority, so that all grants can be awarded should there be any withdrawals.

Master Scholarships in Economics, Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, Spain

“La Caixa” Foundation – Barcelona GSE Scholarships for students from emerging and developing countries.
“La Caixa” Foundation is the institution which manages the resources that Caixa d’Estalvis i Pensions de Barcelona, “la Caixa”, devotes to its social and cultural work. Among its priorities are cooperation with developing countries and promotion of higher education. “La Caixa”, based in Barcelona, is the leading European savings bank.
The “la Caixa” savings bank Foundation and the Barcelona GSE offer 14 fully-funded scholarships to students from emerging and developing countries (*) with excellent academic backgrounds who will return to their home countries at the end of their professional training process to implement their knowledge.
This award covers:
  • master program tuition
  • medical insurance
  • round-trip airfare from the student’s country of residence
  • monthly stipend for expenses during the student’s stay in Barcelona
