Study Subject(s): Mixed Metal Oxide Nanoparticles
Course Level: PhD
Scholarship Provider: University of Cambridge
Scholarship can be taken at: UK
Eligibility:
Applicants should have obtained, or expect to obtain, at least the equivalent of a II.1 UK honours degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related area, and must be prepared to work at the interface between materials science and chemistry. The studentship covers tuition fees plus a maintenance grant for UK and other EU nationals who satisfy the eligibility requirements of the UK Research Councils. Owing to funding restrictions, the studentship is not available to non-EU nationals.
Scholarship Open for International Students: No
Scholarship Description: Applications are invited for a Ph.D. studentship to work with Dr David Jefferson on the preparation and characterisation of oxide nanoparticles containing two or more different metal atoms, and their subsequent reactivity. The aim of the project is to increase our understanding of the way in which the substitution of metal atoms in oxide nanoparticles alters the chemical properties, particularly as regards the distribution of the different metal atoms in the particles and their interaction with supported metal particles of the type commonly utilised in heterogeneous catalysts. The potential role of oxide nanoparticles as a precursor to mixed metal particles will also be investigated.
How to Apply: Online
