Scholarship Description: The Department offers graduate training in many areas of biology with particular strengths in Ecology, Biodiversity and Conservation, Evolution, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Cell and Developmental Biology, Neurobiology, Plant Biology and Bioinformatics. Graduate programs leading to the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees are offered. The emphasis in both programs is on development of the intellectual and technical skills necessary for independent research. The main component of both degrees is a thesis embodying the results of original research. Scholarships are limited, and are awarded on the basis of academic merit. Such awards benefit both students and supervisors (who can thereby allocate more money for research expenses), therefore prospective and current McGill graduate students are expected to apply for all scholarships for which they are eligible. Prospective students should note that separate applications must be made for graduate school admission and scholarship support. Possession of a scholarship increases the probability of acceptance. Many scholarships require Canadian citizenship or Landed Immigrant status. Applications received by February 1st will be automatically considered for a number of McGill-administered fellowships.

Eligibility:
-Applicants must have been enrolled as an undergraduate student in entomology at a college or university in the United States, Mexico or Canada in the fall prior to the application deadline;
-if the college or university the student is attending does not offer a degree in entomology, the student must be preparing for a career as an entomologist through his/her studies.
-The student must also have accumulated a minimum of 90 college credit hours by September 1 following the application deadline, and either completed two junior-level entomology courses or have a research project in entomology. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need.

Scholarship Description: Each year, BioQuip Products, a major supplier of entomology equipment, sponsors a $2,000 undergraduate scholarship to assist students in the upcoming academic year to achieve their goal of obtaining a degree in entomology or pursuing a career as an entomologist. This Entomological Foundation scholarship is designed to encourage student interest in entomology. The award is presented at the ESA Annual Meeting. The $2,000 is given to the student in two payments: $1,000 is presented to the student during the year the award is given and $1,000 the following spring/summer. Only the following file formats will be accepted: PDF (Adobe Portable Document Format), RTF (Rich Text Format), TIF graphic files, or JPG graphic files. Scholarship Description: The centre welcomes applications for projects that meet its mandate of promoting the interdisciplinary study of religion in relation to any and all aspects of society and culture, both contemporary and historical. Topics may include, but are not limited to, examinations of religious themes within the areas of ethics, health, environment, technology, public policy, human conflict, art, literature, the media, and social currents and debates within philosophy and/or the natural sciences. Applications from all disciplinary backgrounds are welcome.
The value will be $5,000 per fellowship, plus office space at the CSRS.
Eligibility Criteria:
The fellowships are open to all University of Victoria graduate students in the process of writing either an MA thesis or major research paper, or a PhD dissertation, on issues related to the centre’s research mandate. Students who have received a previous CSRS award at the MA level may not reapply until they are registered in a PhD program. PhD students can receive a CSRS award only once.

Graduate Scholarships in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, University of Calgary, Canada

Graduate student positions in theoretical and computational chemistry. Univ. of Calgary Canada
Up to 4 graduate student positions in theoretical and computational chemistry will become available in my group by May 2011, September 2011 or January 2012. The successful applicants will be involved with the development of new computational methods or applications of state-of-the-art computational methodology to problems of chemical interest. Application deadlines are 4 months prior to admission . The applicant should have a solid background in (Physical) Chemistry, and a strong interest in Theoretical/Computational Chemistry as well as an average GPA corresponding to 3.3/4.0 (80 %) or more in the North American system.
Students will receive financial assistance throughout the course of their studies (4-5 years) in terms of scholarships or teaching assistance ships. The student will normally spend from 12 months to 18 months finishing the course requirements (4 half courses + a general examination in the students field of specialization. The remaining part of the program is devoted to the students research work. The student will be allocated an interim supervisor and should chose his/her permanent supervisor within 8 months after arriving in Calgary.
The course requirements for students with the equivalent of a Masters degree might be reduced to two courses. We do not have entrance examinations. The students are admitted based on their letters of reference, academic records, and recommendations from a panel of faculty members in the applicants field of specialization. Foreign students with English as a second language must pass the TOEFL test with a score of 580. All foreign students will be covered by an inexpensive medical insurance. Students will be fully supported by teaching assistance ships and scholarships for a total of $24,000 CDN. The tuition fee is covered by research grants in my group .

Scholarship Description: With the objectives of contribution to enhancing quality of the local workforce in oil and gas industry of Vietnam, Talisman Vietnam Limited (TVL) is pleased to sponsor two full postgraduate scholarships for fall enrolment of academic year 2011 for Vietnamese professionals wishing to undertake a Master’s degree in petroleum related fields at the University of Alberta (U of A), Canada.

The scholarships aim to provide opportunities for postgraduate study at the U of A for young professionals in early or mid-career, who demonstrate both academic excellence and the potential to become leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers in Vietnam.

3. Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants must:
• display intellectual ability and leadership potential;

• If you apply for MBA degree, in addition to the English Language skills evidence above, you need to provide either GMAT score minimum 600 (paper-based) or 100 (internet-based) with at least 20 on each of the individual skill area or GRE 1100 total (verbal 450 and quantitative 650)
and will normally be expected to:
• have a good academic record. Only candidates with an “excellent” (gioi or xuat sac – 8.0+) or “good” (kha – 7.5+) first degree will be considered.
• not already have received or be currently receiving financial benefit from a previous Government-Funded Scholarship;
• not already had the chance of studying in Canada or another developed country;
• not already been awarded a university doctorate from another academic institution;
• Industry experience would be a plus

Master & PhD Scholarships, University of Manitoba, Canada

Beginning with the 2007/2008 academic session, scholarships will be offered to recognize and reward the excellence of international graduate students pursuing Master’s or Ph.D. degrees at the University of Manitoba. The scholarships will be offered to students who:
(1) are international students (i.e., those in Canada on study permits) continuing in full-time study in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Manitoba in either the second year of a two-year Master’s program, the second year of a two-year Ph.D. program, the second or third year of a three-year Ph.D. program, or in the first year of a Ph.D. program after completing a Master’s degree at the University of Manitoba;
(2) are paying the international student tuition fee;
(3) have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 over the equivalent of the last two completed years of study;
(4) show great promise as researchers and as graduate students.
(5) are not recipients of external funding that pays for their tuition
The value of the scholarship is $4,000. Scholarships will be offered until available funds are exhausted. Funding will be confirmed on an annual basis.
This scholarship may be held with the UMGF and other awards offered by the University of Manitoba, but may not be held in conjunction with the International Graduate Student Entrance Scholarship (IGSES). Students may be considered for this scholarship in each year of eligible study. Students who are enrolled in a re-registration year are not eligible.
Scholarships will only be applied against any outstanding international student tuition fee differential.
This scholarship will be administered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

(2) Attach transcripts from all post secondary institutions attended. Only official transcripts, “student histories” from the UM Registrar’s Office, and certified true copies are acceptable.
