Graduate Scholarships in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, University of Calgary, Canada

Up to 4 graduate student positions in theoretical and computational chemistry will become available in my group by May 2011, September 2011 or January 2012. The successful applicants will be involved with the development of new computational methods or applications of state-of-the-art computational methodology to problems of chemical interest. Application deadlines are 4 months prior to admission . The applicant should have a solid background in (Physical) Chemistry, and a strong interest in Theoretical/Computational Chemistry as well as an average GPA corresponding to 3.3/4.0 (80 %) or more in the North American system.
Students will receive financial assistance throughout the course of their studies (4-5 years) in terms of scholarships or teaching assistance ships. The student will normally spend from 12 months to 18 months finishing the course requirements (4 half courses + a general examination in the students field of specialization. The remaining part of the program is devoted to the students research work. The student will be allocated an interim supervisor and should chose his/her permanent supervisor within 8 months after arriving in Calgary.
The course requirements for students with the equivalent of a Masters degree might be reduced to two courses. We do not have entrance examinations. The students are admitted based on their letters of reference, academic records, and recommendations from a panel of faculty members in the applicants field of specialization. Foreign students with English as a second language must pass the TOEFL test with a score of 580. All foreign students will be covered by an inexpensive medical insurance. Students will be fully supported by teaching assistance ships and scholarships for a total of $24,000 CDN. The tuition fee is covered by research grants in my group .

Scholarship Description: The purpose of the ECBA Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to residents of Erie, Pennsylvania who are entering their second or third year at an ABA accredited law school. The ECBA Scholarship Committee reviews all applications, basing their evaluation on numerous factors including financial need.  The Scholarship Committee is composed of members of the Erie County Bar Association.

Eligibility Erie County, Pennsylvania residents who have been accepted to, or who are currently enrolled in, accredited law schools are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Awards may be granted to students entering their first year of law school. Assuming the availability of funds, and provided that the student maintains a satisfactory academic record, the scholarship may be renewable during their law school career.

American Australian Association – Westfield Fellowship in Sustainable Development

Scholarship Description: The application process will occur in three phases: i) evaluation of curriculum vitae (CV), ii) interview and iii) general test and English proficiency. You do not need prior acceptance of a supervisor or to present a research project. However, we suggest that applicants come into contact with potential mentors to check on the availability of research projects in the intended areas.1st stage:The assessment consists of evaluation of academic titles, academic performance, production, work experience and (optional) letters of recommendation .2nd stage:Candidates approved in the first stage will be invited to an interview by permanent members of the program. 3rd stage: Candidates approved to the third stage will be invited to attend a written general exam and an English proficiency exam, both in person, at the the UFABC facilities. The general and English proficiency exams can be substituted, respectively, by the General GRE exam and the TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent. The substitution will take place only when requested by the applicant in the application form and is subject to the analysis of the application committee.
The general exam is focused on abilities such as comprehension, logical reasoning and argumentation of the candidate. It is advantageous to have pPrior knowledge in more than one of the following areas: (1) neuroscience and biology, (2) cognitive sciences and (3) mathematics (such as calculus and probability) and biostatistics. The following list of references is suggestive in relation to these subjects.
