2012-2013 Black Sea Link Fellowship Program at New Europe College, Romania

Research Fellowships in Humanities and Social Sciences for Young and Talented Scholars from Black Sea Region, particularly from Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan at New Europe College, Romania 2012
Scholarship Description: The Black Sea Link program offers research fellowships for young, highly talented scholars in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Candidates from the Black Sea Region, particularly from Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, are welcome to apply with projects on topics of their choice, for in-residence fellowships at the New Europe College in Bucharest, Romania, an Institute for Advanced Study of international reputation and an important meeting place for scholars from East and West. The Black Sea Link program is carried out in cooperation with the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. It is sponsored by the VolkswagenStiftung Hannover (Germany). The host institution New Europe College (NEC) supports scholars (“fellows”) by providing excellent conditions for their research and by establishing a strong and fruitful network among academics in the country and beyond. The institute has acquired a unique position in the region and has mean­while established itself as research center of international reputation. Black Sea Link fellows are invited to be in residence, together with other NEC fellows, to work on projects of their individual choice. Projects need not be connected to the Black Sea region, but may address any innovative and stimulating research question within the humanities or social sciences. Fellows are expected to take part in the weekly seminar at the institute together with the other scholars present at NEC. They also have the opportunity to profit from the NEC’s widespread international networks and its high-quality guest lecturers program. The institute’s working languages, besides Romanian, are English, French, and German; a good command of English is desirable. Fellows are assisted in all practical matters concerning travel, residence, and research in Bucharest. Toward the end of their stay, they are required to summarize their research outcomes in a scholarly article (in English, French, or German). Fellows are granted a monthly stipend of 650 € plus accommodation and traveling expenses. In addition to their residence period in Bucharest, they are offered a one-month research trip abroad to an institution of their choice, for which they receive a lump sum of 2,600 €. They also have the opportunity to order special research literature (book allowance)

Scholarship Description: The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (the Abdus Salam ICTP) will offer number of grants to scientists from Developing Countries (Central and Eastern Europe included) interested in taking part in the training and research activities.
The minimum amount of these grants will be Euro 1,400 per month and stays longer than twelve months may be possible. Limited funds for travel expenses will be available in case these are not covered by other sources. Health insurance coverage will be provided for visitors and their accompanying family members. A monthly family allowance for those having dependant family members will be granted.
The two grant will be awarded to candidates which are as follow:
1- Programme for research and training in Science and Technology for Geothermal Energy
2- Programme for research and training in Recent Developments in Science and Technology for Renewable Energy.
You are not authorized to take leave from the Host Laboratory without prior approval from your Supervisor. The final approval will be given by the Head of the ICTP Programme, who should receive immediate notification in writing of your absence.
The ICTP TRIL Programme should be properly acknowledged in all scientific papers produced during the stay in Italy. The following sentence is suggested: “The author/one of the authors (name of Researcher) undertook this work with the support of the “ICTP Programme for Training and Research in Italian Laboratories, Trieste, Italy”.

JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program for Foreign Researchers 2012-2013, Japan

Scholarship Description: The fellowship purpose is to provide opportunities for young postdoctoral researchers from other countries to conduct, under the guidance of their hosts, cooperative research with leading research groups in universities and other Japanese institutions. The program allows such researchers to advance their own research while contributing to the progress of research in Japan and the counterpart countries.
Applications for this program are submitted by a host researcher in Japan who wishes to host a foreign postdoctoral fellow. The applicant (host researcher) must be a researcher who is employed full-time or classified as being employed full-time (excluding Jokyo, assistant professors, and Joshu, research assistants) at a university or research institution that is eligible to apply to MEXT for funding under the Grants-in-Aid for Scientific-Research Program (Kakenhi) and approved by JSPS as an appropriate institution for hosting young foreign researchers.
The applicant must be a citizen of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan (JSPS treats Taiwanese and Palestinian researchers in this manner.) He/she should have a doctorate degree when the Fellowship goes into effect, which must have been received on or after April 2, 2005, or be scheduled to receive a doctorate degree before the Fellowship goes into effect. The applicant must have arranged in advance a research plan with his/her Japanese host researcher.

    Scholarship Description:The Scottish Graduate Academy offers prize studentships to excellent candidates from across the world. There is no residence qualification and candidates from any country may apply.Selection of candidates is by a competitive process where we look at the student’s academic achievements, referees reports, research proposal, publications and experience. The research proposal is particularly important as this helps us judge how well a candidate has thought about their research, how well the research fits with the SICSA themes and the potential cross-site supervisory arrangements.Your studentship application will be considered by the universities that you have listed in your application. They will decide, on the basis of the information in your application, if they wish to nominate you for a SICSA studentship. If they do so, your application will be considered by the Graduate Academy Board.

    Your first choice university may decide not to nominate your application for a studentship. In this case, your details will be passed to any other universities that you have included in your application and they may decide to support your application. Applications from students who are not nominated by one of the SICSA partners will not be considered for a prize studentship.

    Italian Government Study Grants for Foreigners and Italians Residing Abroad

    Scholarship for International students and Italians Residing Abroad by the government of Italy in Italy

    Scholarship Description: Study grants are awarded by the Italian Government to foreigners as a contribution toward their studies and research in Italy, aiming at spreading the Italian language, culture and sciences abroad and at promoting cultural, economic and technological cooperation worldwide.

    Special study grants are available to Italian citizens legally residing in Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Mexico, Peru, Syria, South Africa, Tunisia, United States of America, Uruguay and Venezuela. Italian citizens that work in any capacity for the public administration and living temporarily abroad, and their dependents, are not eligible.
