Scholarship Description:CSIRO Energy Technology is seeking a motivated student with an excellent academic record to join our research team to develop novel ionic liquids to absorb CO2 which can reduce CO2 emissions from existing coal fired power plants. You will be involved in synthesizing and characterizing ionic liquids and studying their gas absorption properties and mechanismThe studentship will be based at CSIRO’s Clayton site in Melbourne, with occasional visits to the University of South Australia. Visits to our Newcastle site is also planned as part of the scholarship.CSIRO’s Clayton labs comprise Australia’s largest chemistry / materials science research facility. Working on this site, the graduate student will have access to world leading expertise and scientific infrastructure in the areas of:Ionic liquid synthesis and characterization, CO2 capture pilot plant.
