Postdoctoral Research in the Department of Chemistry at University of Liverpool, UK

Research job at University of Liverpool on Layer-by-Layer PLD Growth,Characterisation of Thin Film Oxide Materials
Study Subject(s):Layer-by-Layer PLD Growth,Characterisation of Thin Film Oxide Materials
Course Level:Postdoctoral
Scholarship Provider: European Research Council
Scholarship can be taken at: UK

Eligibility:
-Epitaxial deposition of oxide thin films Structural, electronic and magnetic characterisation of thin films -PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science or Physics -Maintenance of vacuum systems Operation of vacuum deposition systems

Scholarship Open for International Students: No
Scholarship Description: You will join a project funded by a European Research Council Advanced Investigator grant to Professor M J Rosseinsky in Pulsed Laser Deposition and characterisation of artificially structured thin film oxide materials. The project involves layer-by-layer assembly of individual unit-cell-scale structural components using in-situ RHEED monitoring to form new functional oxide materials, and investigation of their magnetic, electronic and structural properties. Expertise in epitaxial oxide film growth using pulsed laser deposition, RHEED and layer-by-layer growth and the application of diffraction methods to the characterisation of thin films is essential. A PhD in physics, chemistry or materials science and an excellent publication record is essential. Experience of electrical and magnetic measurements on thin films is desirable. The post is available for 2 years.

How to Apply: Online
